Sea Cadet Online Shop

In the latest of new developments for Sea Cadets, the online shop is now open for business.

Selling a number of new clothing items for Juniors, Sea Cadets and volunteers including the option to customise them with a unit crest or name.  Also available for purchase are existing items like badges, boat parts and other accessories.

This new service is provided by Sea Cadets Stores, who normally provide a mail order service but have decided to enter the world of ecommerce following a recent review of products and services offered.

As one happy customer posted on facebook: “Just wanted to let Sea Cadets know I'm very pleased with the service from your on-line shop. Ordered Wednesday evening, you posted it Thursday, I got it this afternoon. Gave it to my daughter when she got home from school. She's happy. Job done.”

The shop has been launched with a smaller range of items initially, but this will increase throughout the year with the introduction of Royal Marines Cadets branded items and further accessories.

It couldn’t be simpler to sign up, all you need is an email address to create an account, set up a password and you’re ready to shop.

Payment is easy too; we now accept PayPal, credit/debit cards, cheques made payable to Marine Society and Sea Cadets or on collection from stores.

Announcement from CEO, Martin Coles

I am delighted to announce that we have completed a renewal of our Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the MOD.   This together with a new Partnering Charter reaffirms the strong relationship between the Sea Cadets and the Royal Navy and sets out the basis for this over the next five years.

The MOU has been greatly improved, with the inclusion of an Accounting Officer role in respect of Grant in Aid monies, clarification of the on-going support, including use of facilities and a set of strategic objectives against which to measure our continued successful delivery of the organisation.

In a period of considerable flux for the Royal Navy and MOD the time and effort applied to this renewal at the highest levels is impressive and a clear demonstration of the level of support and confidence in the Sea Cadets.  It is of course also testament to the work of the Sea Cadets in inspiring young people through fun and adventurous nautical activity and the traditions and ethos of the Royal Navy to learn new skills and gain a head start in life.

London mayor unveils £1.3million commitment to help young Londoners at Sea Cadet unit

Sea Cadets in Merton got a special visit from Boris Johnson, London Mayor today when he made a flying visit to the unit to meet 100 young people and volunteers from eight Youth Uniform organisations that make the YOU Matter Program. He was launching

In plans outlined by the Mayor today, thousands of youngsters will have the opportunity to join uniformed groups like the Guides, Scouts and Cadets. The £1.3 million programme, being run by the Safer London Foundation, will help young people to  develop vital skills, helping them to get a head start in life.

Volunteers receive New Years honours

Congratulations to SSO for London, Cdr (SCC) Noel Wheatley MBE RNR has received an MBE in HRH the Queen’s New Years Honours list for his service to the Sea Cadet Corps.

Congratulations also go to Lt Cdr (SCC) Phil Burns MBE RNR and Lt Cdr (SCC) David Lewis MBE JP RNR. Phil received his for his services to the Defence Industry over many years and David received his for services to the community in South East London.
